His Hands for Sri Lanka

We are a sponsorship program that pairs sponsors, people like you, with children in need in Sri Lanka.  When a child is sponsored for $15 per month through His Hands for Sri Lanka they receive:

Children:

  • uniform
  • educational materials
  • participation in a weekend tutoring program which includes a snack or a meal

His Hands for Sri Lanka works alongside our Sri Lankan partner, Pastor Livingston Jacob, who is the pastor of the National Gospel Church.  Pastor Livingston and his church are reaching out into their community to provide help and hope to the children in the area through their tutoring program. Children attending this program not only receive much-needed tutoring from Sunday School teachers and older students, but they also receive a meal. His Hands for Sri Lanka's participation in this work is done to fulfill our goal as a ministry, which is:

"…to support and encourage the work of our brothers and sisters in Christ in the country of Sri Lanka and to support the ministries of their churches, giving special emphasis to helping with their children's ministries and in supporting children to enable them to attend school. We strive to demonstrate the love of Christ through works of service to these churches as well as to other Christian missions and missionaries in the country of Sri Lanka as we have opportunity - to be God's "hands and feet" and His servants to His children in Sri Lanka."

100% of your sponsorship payment goes toward meeting the needs of the children - none of it goes toward the administrative expenses of this program here in the United States.

Why Sri Lanka? Why should we help?

.

“Whoever is kind to the poor lends to the Lord,
and he will reward them for what they have done” Proverbs 19:17

Sri Lanka is a land of 22 million people. 82 percent of those 22 million people reside in rural areas and half of them are small-scale farmers. Many rural people also work on tea, rubber, or palm oil estates and more than half of them live below the poverty line. Schools in the provincial areas have poor facilities and a shortage of qualified teachers. Due to poor roads in the rural areas, school attendance is poor and the drop-out rate is higher. An estimated 17 percent of the population is food-insecure, 31 percent of children under age 5 are malnourished, and 20 percent of children under age 5 suffer from wasting. Districts with a high percentage of tea estates have the highest rate of stunting of children under age 5. Dengue fever is prevalent in rural areas as well as exposure to venomous reptiles and insects.

His Hands for Sri Lanka was founded in 2024 when a partnership was formed with Pastor Livingston Jacob and his church, the National Gospel Church, in Southern Sri Lanka. The National Gospel Church is helping the children in this area through their tutoring program. Children attending this program not only receive much-needed tutoring from Sunday School teachers and older students, but they also receive a meal. Children in the program will also receive assistance with their uniform costs and school materials. For a monthly fee of just $15.00 you can sponsor a needy Sri Lankan child. Your sponsorship will help send them to school and help change their life!
